Community Collection Point launched at new refurbished Treharris Library

On Tuesday 12^th May 2026, Cllr Gareth Richards launched a new Community Collection Point at Treharris Library from 11am - 12pm.

Treharris Library in Merthyr Tydfil was officially re-opened following refurbishment on Friday 20th March 2026 with pupils from Edwardsville Primary School, one of our schools offering school savers serenading those in attendance.

Gareth Richards said ‘I’m pleased to be volunteering with Merthyr Credit Union to bring their not-for-profit savings and affordable loans closer to residents of Treharris and surrounding villages.

Having a Collection Point at the library will help support residents, build financial resilience and increase awareness of everything that the library offers.’

Delyth Shearing, Manager at Merthyr Credit Union added ‘It’s great to be reopening the Collection Point in Treharris at the newly refurbished Library and having a long time member and supporter Gareth Richards running it.

Following Tuesday’s launch, the next Collection Point at Treharris Library will be on Tuesday 19^th May from 11am – 12pm.
