Launch of second Community Collection Point at Smyrna Community Chapel, Aberfan
We’re delighted to announce the launch of a second Community Collection Point for the second month running at Smyrna Community Chapel Hall in Aberfan on Thursday 13th November 2025 from 9.30am to 11am.
The Collection Point will then run from 9.30am to 11am on the first Thursday of every month.
Smyrna Community Chapel Hall is part of the Taff Rocks project whose mission is to improve people's lives and strengthen community bonds through freestyle workshops and structured tuition that promotes fun, inspiration, creativity, and self-expression.
Hayley Phillips, Taff Rocks Project Worker said ‘We are pleased to be partnering with Merthyr Tydfil Borough Credit Union to bring the ethical savings and affordable loans closer to residents of Aberfan and surrounding villages. Having those services at Smyrna Chapel will help build financial resilience as well as increasing awareness of everything that Taff Rocks and Smyrna Community Chapel offers’

Aberfan used to have a Community Collection Point at the Library and like Kevin Ryan Court was busy every week with savers and borrowers, so were delighted to see a Collection Point back up and running supporting residents and the enthusiasm of the Taff Rocks team has for this partnership.’

Following Thursday’s launch, the next Collection Point at Smyrna Community Chapel Hall will be on Thursday 4th December from 9.30am to 11am
